Last night dropped to 32 degrees which means all the summer crops that were left froze. The fall crops look great and are loving the cold weather.

Fall flowers
Pumpkins
Started seeds that were in a pumpkin that I purchased at an international market. The vines have taken over the entire back of the garden. Planted other pumpkins on a trellis that grew some bright orange squash.
Peppers
This was a great year for hot peppers. They didn’t mind the oppressive heat and humidity. The sweet peppers like cubenalle, pimento, and California wonder have not had a good year.
Martino Roma Tomato Sauce
Making tomato sauce in the instant pot. Easy recipe where you skin the tomatoes and then put them in the instant pot with pressure cooking for 20 minutes. Then open and saute low adding 1/4 cup wine, basil, oregano, and parsley https://instagram.com/stories/agnewfarms/2628145713716238130?utm_medium=share_sheet

Peas in raised bed with trellis
Peas were planted in a raised bed with a trellis and drip tape. Onions were also added to use as spring onions. The peas needed some string to keep them growing towards the trellis and we had one seriously bad storm with high winds that did blow them around a bit but all in allContinue reading “Peas in raised bed with trellis”
Florida (Virginia) Cross weave for peppers and tomatoes
We started using the Florida weave last year and we’re amazed at the results. We have the plants in flat beds, raised beds and some with landscape fabric. Each row has T posts or stakes at the ends and middle. String is then woven around the plants and tied off on the posts. This givesContinue reading “Florida (Virginia) Cross weave for peppers and tomatoes”
Snow, snap, and regular peas
This year we did the peas in a raised bed with trellis and drip tape. The peas are covered with flowers and filling up the bed.
Planting peppers using the Florida weave step 1
We started using the Florida weave last year for peppers and tomatoes. The results were amazing because the plants were supported through storms and a heavy crop of peppers. We will plant them in four different areas. The first area is planted in a raised bed with t-posts on each end and string woven aroundContinue reading “Planting peppers using the Florida weave step 1”
