Started seeds that were in a pumpkin that I purchased at an international market. The vines have taken over the entire back of the garden. Planted other pumpkins on a trellis that grew some bright orange squash.
This was a great year for hot peppers. They didn’t mind the oppressive heat and humidity. The sweet peppers like cubenalle, pimento, and California wonder have not had a good year.
Peas were planted in a raised bed with a trellis and drip tape. Onions were also added to use as spring onions. We started using the Florida weave last year and we’re amazed at the results. We have the plants in flat beds, raised beds and some with landscape fabric. Each row has T posts or stakes at the ends and middle. String is then woven around the plants and tied off on the posts. Planting Hatch peppers in a raised bed with drip tape. Next we will put in T posts and run string weaving through the plants to hold them up.
The peonies have come up and seem very healthy – they froze this winter so I was worried about them. Hopefully they will bloom.
The new BCS Tractor is really making everything so much easier this year. New beds were created in Minutes vs Hours. The peas are doing great with the cool spring.
